“…. Now I remembered that the real world was wide,
and that a varied field of hope and fears, of sensation and excitements, awaited those who had courage to go forth into it’s expanse, to seek real knowledge of life amidst it’s perils.”
Charlotte Bronte’s delicate classic Jane Eyre

Flattery to me is shallow praise . Usually it strings from a secret intention or the need to impress some one. Pure praise on the other hand is positive words about somebody without any hidden agenda.

It is such a joy to be complimented by someone especially by the ones you know. Compliments showering from another person bring us under a glorious spotlight though temporary. But it does cheer us. It surely brings a smile on our face doesn’t it? Even if we somehow manage to hide it and act like “Well that’s no biggy”.

In our little hearts there is bubbling of happiness. We have an entire day looking forward to do more good. It’s inspiring and energizing.

When we praise someone genuinely for their nature or their actions, we make them realize that what they do does matter and the world is a little better when they do what they do. Aren’t we all humans? Don’t we all doubt our selves sometimes?

For silly reasons, trifle worries, we all miss out on the many qualities that we have been blessed with and the things we actively do every day.

So praises given and praises taken are gifts that no matter small leave waves of positivity running through out our day and in turn one’s life. It’s interesting how we all can be a fraction of someone’s joy.

So tell me, if somebody was kind enough to instill faith in yourself. Even for a second, shouldn’t you share that ripple of joy with someone too?

I will add that while praises are welcome, our ability to praise ourselves shouldn’t be belittled in any way.

Praising ourselves is as important as praising others. Why should that heart of yours be devoid of it’s own kindness? You have been warm enough to be nice to someone.

We need to praise ourselves as much as others. Believe me, try praising yourself for tiny things done well. Not on a trumpet horn, but silently in your hearts.

If you have sweetened someone’s day today, with a spoonful of honest praises.

Don’t be shy and sprinkle few more crystals of praise in your own cup.

After all if you don’t fill your heart with self love and self praise how can you supply endless praise and love to others around you.

Sending love and praises to you ! Praises to you all !!

I am lucky to have a plush park few steps away my residence. Its green, well tended , always loaded with people . It’s made for all. There’s a joggers path, an open gym section for the health conscious: for kids , the children’s play ground and for the romantic, the colorful beds of flowers , fragrant plumeria, and greens in all shades , trees young and old spreading all across the land.

Here I saw the tree, it’s an old giant tree in the corner of the park. I call it THE CRAZY TREE. Those were the words that cropped up in my mind the moment I lay my curious eyes on them . I had never seen a tree so strange.

It’s a large magnificent tree , no younger than a hundred years I guess, even its branches stretch wider than my length. I find it humbling that Its been here way before me . It’s seen changing weathers , change in governance, pollution and several interferences in it’s growth. Thanks to man’s old habit of altering all things natural.

Now why CRAZY . Why not just old , you ask? Because it’s not just a single living entity . It houses many other lives. There must be a bunch of other species living on it . Most conspicuous of all are these sheets of parasitic cacti that extend from its lowest branches to the top, flourishing as grand as the tree itself. Believe me when I say extend .

The cacti more or less cover the tree, they are long and coated with fine thorns, some even dangling from the branches over the walkers path. Yet the tree stands as graciously and as welcoming as a wise old lady. At night from distance, it looked nothing short of medusa’s head.

At first sight, it’s just a giant tree. But if you look closer, there is more to it. There are mosses, vines of different kind, variety of plants I have never seen and cacti spreading like a swarm, uncontrolled and wild.

Despite it’s strange appearance and intriguing lifespan, it’s beautiful! It is this tree that has many stories to tell and many memories to recall that stand out. The features that make it look weird at the first, also make it interesting and unique. No tree in that park is as detailed as this one.

There may be many other senior trees , may be greener and pompous than THE CRAZY TREE. But nothing beats it’s beauty .

Its interesting how we all grow into miniature crazy trees. When we realize we have picked up some cacti and some mosses on our way. We think our situations as different from other’s and try so hard to be just like everybody. So grey and so plain.

However , there is no fun in being like everyone.

But that’s not how we were made . That’s not natural. Even dead and inanimate objects change with time. Then who are we to protest? Past failures, victories, desires and fears are a part and parcel of THE REAL YOU.

You may try to scrape it off . But there was never a need. As long as your past is in harmony with your present, your future will be fine. Just be yourself .

Accept your history along with your present. The good, the bad and every other thing. They made you who you are today.

No matter how weird or crazy you may seem to some. Those who take the time to see you for real, will always know you are simply BEAUTIFUL.

‘The possession of control, authority , or influence over others ‘ such is the definition of POWER, as per Webster’s dictionary.

Power and money are believed to change people and influence their characters, particularly negatively. But if you think deep you realize it really doesn’t change anything. In fact when handed over with power and money people are freed of inhibitions, so if anything the power – money couple can only eliminate existing inhibitions, remove any present restrictions. And what happens when people and their inner demons go unchecked? They express themselves in full bloom. Those who already had tints of evil and hatred easily succumb to temptations and believe themselves to be mightier than the rest. Whereas those with values and humanity remain the same, no matter the social status.

Power doesn’t change people. It changes their belief, the faith that they are above all. And nothing they do or say is wrong. That’s the illness that power can bring upon us.

Recently I watched the movie The Lion King in theatre. It was amazing. I am a huge fan of Walt Disney pictures. You see it’s the right formula for a grand moral story.   A mighty noble king,  Mufassa ; fumes of envy inherent in  the family, Scar; and naive and curious following wrong  paths, Simba , form its main pillars. How many true kings and leaders do we have today?

No matter how we like it. The worlds will always have a canted power scale. Some will always have an upper hand , for no substantial reason. If this power scale is meant to be tilted, I hope it rather be in the hands of a fair human being than a weak , insecure leader who is perennially hungry for more. The world has had enough of such heads who brought misery and destruction to all.

The exercise of balancing power between all in a community is a hard task. I wonder what would happen if the world was to be dominated by women instead of the men, unlike history. I am curious what such a world would be like. I think it would make a better world. Lesser crime, lesser violence. It’s hard to tell  what would the results be like , but definitely women would handle things differently .

If a power imbalance is an unavoidable scenario , then the world would be Better off with a noble and compassionate leader , than an insecure bully. The reigns would better be in hands with conscious than those soaked in greed.

We need leaders who are here to give and protect , and not to rule. In Mufassa’s words ‘While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give …’.
